Sonya Sampson, Warehouse Manager 2IC, joined the Masterpet family in 1999 after her sister got her a packing position in the warehouse. Thinking it was just going to be a job, she soon realised that there is so much more to caring for your pets and it became a passion.
In her 22 years at Masterpet, Sonya has continuously developed and adapted her skills to lead each department within the warehouse, undertaking roles such as Inwards Team Leader and Dispatch Team Leader. Now, Sonya supports the Warehouse Manager at our Smeaton Grange site, as well as running the Pick and Pack and Stock Management departments.
Reflecting on who has inspired her progression within Masterpet, Sonya shared “Warehouse Manager, Michael Mamo, has given me so much knowledge to be the leader I want to be”.Sonya’s exemplary leadership has earnt her the HJ Award at the annual Masterpet Founders Day in 2018, and selection to participate in ACCB’s inaugural Women in Leadership Program last year.
Every career comes with its challenges and adapting to 45 different personalities and keeping everyone on track to achieve the best possible outcome keeps Sonya on her toes. She relishes the opportunity to guide and mentor other team leaders to be the best they can be and loves knowing she can make a difference every day.
“Helping pet parents look after their fur babies and working with like-minded people has created an awesome culture within Masterpet.”
Sonya feels privileged to satisfy and thrill our internal and external customers, alongside a team of incredible and inspirational people.
What are Sonya’s aspirations for the future? “I would love to visit all different sites under the EBOS umbrella to see how other parts of the business operate and share my knowledge and experiences - so maybe one day, [be] a warehouse manager."
