For a third year, Black Hawk proudly sponsored the 4 Paws Marathon, an event promoting the benefits of 'exercise as medicine' and acknowledging dogs as an ally in being active.
Held in the beautiful Bottle Lake Forest and beaches of Christchurch, New Zealand, participants, and their furry friends choose between six distances to run or walk from 2.4km to a full marathon, catering to all levels of fitness. With COVID-19 restrictions challenging organisers, this year's event was able to proceed with 170 participants at the main event and others joined in remotely across New Zealand.
Although restrictions prevented our team cheering on competitors in person, we rewarded all participants' four legged best friends with Black Hawk Treats and samples in their goody bags. Black Hawk Ambassadors also presented medals to finishers, both human and dogs.
Reflecting on Black Hawk's ongoing support, John Molloy, Sport and Exercise Doctor and event organiser, said it "means a lot to the 4 Paws Marathon as we share similar views of happy and healthy dogs. The secret to happiness is dogs!". We agree, life's better with a pet.
